Here are just some sound-bite style thoughts to finish off my observations from the conference:
-When it comes to an organizations capacity, underestimating is just as bad as overestimating.
-True support comes in the form of aiding the decision making capacity of individuals, not just making decisions for them
-Sharing knowledge is great, but the real challenge is finding modes of implementation that fit each environment in which the knowledge is to be used
-“A foundation should look to capture the value of risk.”
-To engage in real capacity building, it is absolutely vital that one be able to track and celebrate pockets of success. This also means that the indicators used to measure impact are fit very exactly to the project.
And my personal favorite…
“Crisis is a terrible thing to waste.”
